Amazon’s venerable voice assistant, Alexa, is one of those new-age technologies we didn’t know we wanted until we had one. Alexa has enhanced the lives of so many by allowing the use of simple voice commands to summon our favorite music, get weather forecasts, control smart devices, or even order items for delivery.
Alexa was launched in November 2014 as the integral innovation of the Echo, Amazon’s first-generation, voice-operated smart speaker. That was a full seven years ago, and Alexa can now be found in a huge variety of devices, from smart displays and media streaming boxes to TVs, thermostats, and Wi-Fi routers.
